Gay rights, Baptist style

Anti-gay Rev. Lonnie W. Latham was busted for soliciting gay sex from an undercover police officer in January of 2006. Since then he has resigned as pastor of the South Tulsa Baptist Church and from the executive committee of the Southern Baptist Convention. As his case moves to trial, his defense affirms his homosexual tendencies - he has a right to have anonymous gay sex.

His attorney, Mack Martin, filed a motion to have the misdemeanor lewdness charge thrown out, saying the Supreme Court ruled in the 2003 decision Lawrence v. Texas that it was not illegal for consenting adults to engage in private homosexual acts.

I had felt sorry for they guy. He had lost so much. I figured letting him off the hook for his alleged crime was enough punishment. Now, I would have to say, let the hypocrite roast. If there is any justice in the world, he should have a long public trial, after which he is freed because the jurors see the logic in his argument.  He's gay, and he has the right to have gay sex any time he wants - Oh, and he's also a total hypocrite, we cannot forget that part.
